MetaSENse Keys: Mapping Effective Targeted Approaches for Students with SEND, Key Elements for Yielding Success
MetaSENse Keys is a project funded by the BERA/Kusuma Trust with further funding from the Education Endowment Foundation. The project examined the key components of targeted interventions that had been included in the MetaSENse study and which key components are most likely to result in larger effect sizes.
Evidence points to prioritising strategies such as explicit teaching and feedback in everyday practice. These findings support school leaders, educational psychologists and special educational needs coordinators in selecting interventions, and help teachers focus on strategies that enhance outcomes for
students with SEND. They may also guide governors, families, researchers and programme developers in
strengthening provision and addressing evidence gaps.
