Raising educational outcomes for students with SEN and disabilities (MetaSENse)
Our project builds on the previous report prepared for the UK Department for Education by Pauline Davis and Lani Florian in 2004, 20 years before MetaSENse. The report was a scoping study that sought to provide an overview of teaching strategies and approaches for pupils with special educational needs. It also addressed the theoretical underpinnings of these strategies and approaches, and the role of specialist knowledge in teaching these pupils. The report was based on the national and international publications available at that time, including reviews of research findings, individual research reports and professional guidance for teachers. The report also considered how the findings of the scoping study might be embedded in every day teaching practice. The schematics below summarise the main findings of the scoping study and the full report is available here.
